Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire is the 23rd film in the Case Closed series adapted from the manga of the same name by Gosho Aoyama. This time, Detective Conan was directed by Tomoka Nagaoka.
Following in the footsteps of Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer movie released in 2018, this film was recorded as the second best-selling film in the Conan franchise that was able to earn a total income of more than USD 82 million in Asia. Once upon a time Conan Edogawa, also known as Shinichi Kudo, was eager to go to Singapore to watch the karate game that was followed by his colleague, Makoto Kyogoku. However, the problem is the condition of your body that is currently being reduced. Posing as Conan made it impossible for him to go abroad. Ai Haibara also refused to give serum that could cause Conan's body to return to normal.
Feeling desperate, Conan finally decided to return to his residence. However, in the middle of the road he was kidnapped by someone, and when he realized, it turned out that he was in Singapore. The culprit turns out to be Kaito Kid, disguised as Shinichi, and this time Conan must also go undercover to solve the mysterious case that happened there.
In general, there are two types of cases in the history of Detective Conan, the first is a criminal case whose culprit is unknown to the viewer (limited narration). One more, the actors who are known by the audience but not the characters (unlimited narration). This time, the story takes the second type of case. This does not mean that the public can immediately guess the end of the story. The plot's appearance turns, making the story go in an unexpected direction. The story of this movie becomes even more interesting when Conan faces a difficult situation, choosing to discover cases of murder or thwart theft.
For those who are not familiar with the series, the public will have difficulty understanding some of the flashbacks and characterizations of the characters. Although in this story, the creator has given a short segment that discusses the background of each of the main characters.
But, of course, this is not a problem because it does not interfere with the entire course of history. It's good if you want to watch this movie, before getting acquainted with the series and the full-length movies. In cases of long story series or feature films, the writer often combines the logic of the story with a slightly exaggerated action that sometimes deviates it slightly from the context of logic and common sense. As in this movie, when the SkyPark, which has the shape of a ship, slides from the top of Marina Bay Sands with a height of 200 meters towards Marina Bay with the condition intact, not broken or there is significant damage in the helmet, it can even float on water.
One thing that could be the reason why the film is so in demand in Japan is the appearance of the figure of Kaito Kid, this time working with Conan to investigate the case. Unlike Conan, who is always in the series of stories, the figure of Kaito Kid has its own uniqueness with a mysterious figure and does not have many stories in the series. Besides that, what is interesting, this film also explores the area of Singapore in the form of animation with a mystery case. One thing is certain, this movie is very entertaining, especially for the faithful followers of the series.
