Synopsis

A institution of Anglican nuns, led by way of Sister Clodagh, are sent to a mountain inside the Himalayas. The weather within the place is opposed and the nuns are housed in an bizarre antique palace. They paintings to establish a school and a hospital, but slowly their recognition shifts. Sister Ruth falls for a government worker, Mr. Dean, and begins to impeach her vow of celibacy. As Sister Ruth obsesses over Mr. Dean, Sister Clodagh becomes immersed in her own reminiscences of affection.
